Soldier On - Message From The Pathways Officer

Dear Defence Parents,

 My name is Petrina and I work in the Pathways team at Soldier On, providing employment and education support. Pathways can help enable you to secure long-term meaningful employment after leaving Defence. Soldier On is a national organisation that assists current and ex-serving Defence members and their immediate families, enabling them to thrive. I am a RAAF spouse of 20 years, with 3 teenage children, and have recently returned from an overseas posting after many domestic postings so I understand the importance of connecting with organisations like Soldier On for support

The Pathways Program provides you with practical employment and education assistance, enabling you to secure your future career. For your information, unlike a recruitment agency, Soldier On doesn’t place candidates in jobs. We work in partnership with veteran-supportive Pledge organisations, who have committed to supporting veteran employment - many of whom may be actively recruiting for people

We can also connect you with our veteran-friendly education providers, many of whom provide discounts to veterans, to help you achieve your educational goals - if you decide you’d like to upskill or retrain. Some of our education partners also offer free digital learning opportunities available to Soldier On participants.

Depending on you as an individual, and your needs, Pathways support can include: comprehensive career exploration – helping to identify what you’d like to do after the military and to help mitigate any barriers that may exist, help to navigate and understand the local job market, as well as applying for opportunities, providing guidance with respect to translating your skills and experience, providing meaningful industry insights, helping to uncover job opportunities and new career pathways, review and update your resume, and job interview preparation. We also offer education opportunities to help up-skill candidates for the job that they want.
