Snake sighting

This is to inform you that a brown snake was sighted on the school grounds today, between the portables and the Ryan Building (near the old vegetable patch). Students were in the classroom and staff kept a visual on the snake until ACT Wildlife attended. They captured the snake and have taken it away to be released in bushland away from the school and residents.

Our school is located in close proximity to grasslands and a nature reserve. With these sort of locations, it is likely that there will occasionally be a snake encounter, particularly in the warmer months of spring and summer.

There was plenty of chat from students at lunchtime regarding our slippery visitor to school today so I wanted to be open with parents regarding what happened and the process we followed to ensure the safety of all.

Don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
