Thank you for a wonderful Term 3!
As Term 3 draws to a close, we would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all our families for your incredible support, enthusiasm, and partnership throughout the term. From community events to classroom achievements, it has been a joy to witness the energy and spirit of Good Shepherd shining brightly.
What a wonderful experience we had last week with the Dance Concert! A BIG thankyou to all involved behind the scenes and on the stage! It was fabulous to see everyone having so much fun.
Good Shepherd Futures Project
Looking ahead, we are excited to launch the Good Shepherd Futures Project—an opportunity for our community to dream big about the future of our amazing school. Over the holiday break, we invite you to work alongside your children in imagining what lies ahead. Together, consider:
-
What should we keep doing?
-
What should we start doing?
-
What should we stop doing?
We would love for your children to capture their ideas visually in the form of a poster or artwork. These creative visions will help our Leadership Team plan boldly and wisely for the years ahead.
Posters can be dropped off at the front office by the end of Week 2, Term 4. We can’t wait to see the imaginative ways our students will help shape the future of Good Shepherd!
Refurbishments
Please note the playground adjacent to the tennis courts will be undergoing its refurbishment these holidays and will not be accessible at all.
We are also refurbishing flooring in STEM and Italian over the break.
Term 4
A reminder that school returns on Tuesday 14th October and students will wear full summer uniform.
We farewell Mrs Sabrina Ross as she departs for maternity leave, and we welcome Ms Caitlin Kenyon-Slade who is replacing Mrs Ross for Term 4.
Have a wonderful break, full of love and laughter and REST :)
Best wishes and see you in Term 4.

In every piece of bread blessed and broken, Jesus says: “I am with you.” The Eucharist is not just a ritual, it’s a sacred encounter to feed the soul the like food feeds our bodies, and from this nourishment, we flourish—within ourselves, our families, and our community.
To receive the Eucharist is to be called into solidarity. Jesus meets us in our weariness, fills us with love, and prepares us for what comes next: mission.
Just as the disciples were sent out after being fed by Jesus, we too are called to cast our nets out deep, with courage, conviction, and compassion. To “cast out” is not just to act, it is to respond. It is to take the nourishment we receive in the Eucharist and become what we receive. It is to be the hands, feet, and heart of Christ in our school, our homes, our parish, and our world. We are invited to live our faith boldly, serve humbly, and love faithfully.
Each of us has a role, a gift, a calling. Like the human body, we work separately but together—each part essential, each action meaningful. When we cooperate with Christ, He works wonders through us.
So let us cast our nets out deep in Amaroo— with courage that dares, with conviction that endures, and with compassion that heals. With hearts fed by faith, let us be the heart of God in our community.
Let us take up the challenge to create homes and communities where God’s presence is felt. Let us be more faithful in the little things, like sharing a prayer before evening family meals, choosing kind words and encouragement in moments of stress, practising gratitude, and reaching out to others by lending a helping hand.

Loving God, We thank You for the gift of this term— for the learning, laughter, and love shared across our school. Bless our students, staff, and families as we step into this time of rest and renewal.
May these holidays be filled with joy, with precious moments of connection, with the warmth of family and the beauty of Your creation. Keep safe all who travel, and let Your presence be felt in the kindness of others and the peace found in quiet places.
Help us to cherish the gift of time together— to slow down, to breathe deeply, and to remember that You are with us always.
May we cast our nets out deep with compassion, conviction, and courage— in our homes, with our friends, and among our neighbours. Let our hearts be open to Your call, and may we find time to pray together as families, anchored in faith and guided by love.
Bless this community, Lord, until we gather again—refreshed, renewed, and ready to continue walking together in Your light.
Amen.
Illnesses and return to school
Parents and carers are reminded that students who are experiencing diarrhea or vomiting are required to be excluded from school for 48 hours from the last episode they have.
Healthy food
We ask parents to ensure that their children come to school having eaten a healthy breakfast, and to provide healthy food choices for their recess and lunch.
We have a designated ‘Fruit Boost’ time in the morning session when students are given time to enjoy a snack of fresh fruit or vegetables. Fruit Boost should be a small piece of fruit or vegetable, which is easily managed by your child. Please do not pack pre-packaged fruit in juice or syrup.
Have a lovely school holiday break. See you all back for Term 4!

Remembrance Chairs for Commemorative Garden
Dear Defence families,
To honour all servicemen and women, we invite Defence families, Good Shepherd families and staff past and present, to contribute towards the purchase of Remembrance Chairs. These handmade benches will be placed in the Commemorative Garden at the entrance to our school. During school hours they will provide a place for classes to learn and reflect.
Any donations are welcome, but those who donate $50 or more will have their family name cut into the metal of the chair.
Donations can be made by QKR App! (look for the 'school payments' menu).
Dear Defence families,
As we head into the spring holidays, I want to take a moment to wish you and your families a restful and joyful break. Whether you're travelling, spending time at home, or simply enjoying the change in season, I hope it's a time of connection and renewal.
Above, you’ll find a helpful table listing Defence and community support services available during the holidays. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you need any assistance — these supports are here for you.
I’m looking forward to seeing you all next term and continuing our journey together.
Warm regards,
Mrs Ahern
