Dear Parents, Carers and School Communities,
RE: COVID-19 LOCKDOWN
The ACT Government has announced today the decision for the ACT to commence a seven day lockdown. This commences at 5pm Thursday 12 August 2021.
Following this directive all ACT Catholic Education (CECG) schools will move to a remote learning platform. Two Pupil Free days are being provided to all schools for staff to undertake final preparation before launching remote learning for the period of lock down. Remote learning will therefore commence on Tuesday 17 August 2021.
Pupil Free Days
Tomorrow, Friday 13 August 2021 and Monday 16 August 2021 are both pupil free days. There will be no teaching or supervision of students on these days. School is closed.
TeamKids will be available for students of essential workers only. Please contact TeamKids on 1300 035 000 to book in for Friday and Monday.
Remote Learning will commence on Tuesday 17th August until Friday 20th August (unless lockdown extended). Schools will remain open for students of parents/carers who are unable to provide care for their children. Students are encouraged to stay away from school during this remote learning period, however, the school will be open for vulnerable students or students of essential workers. Please contact email@example.com to inform us if your child will need to attend school during the remote learning period.
The guidelines set out below have been developed to support our students to continue their learning remotely. At the same time we will continue to be proactive in caring for and protecting as far as possible the students, staff and members of our wider school and CE communities.
The following guidelines apply to CECG schools in this lockdown:
- there is to be one mode of learning employed, the remote learning model. This is where the same learning is delivered to students both at home and on site at school;
- school principals have been requested to ensure there are only minimal staff on the school site at any time which is on a rotational basis; and
- there are no excursions during this lockdown (Kinder and Year 2) and the Year 4 Camp for Monday 23rd August is to be advised. The Science Fair is cancelled for Monday and further information will be distributed soon.
Our contact numbers will remain the same throughout the closure. Contact me directly (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you have any questions or concerns.
During this difficult time, we are providing additional counselling support to our school communities. If needed you can contact CatholicCare on (02) 6162 6100.
I thank you in advance for your patience and understanding. It is my sincere hope that our community is safe and remains settled during this difficult time.
