Absences

In accordance with the requirements of the Education Act, parents are encouraged to train the children in the habit of regular attendance at school. Generally, each day’s work is built upon the previous day’s work and any loss of time may upset the teaching and learning programs for the teacher and student.

However, a child who is ill or disturbed through family trauma does not participate well and should be kept at home to receive the care needed for recovery. The school should be notified by telephone of a child’s absence on the day the absence occurs. Upon returning to class, a note of explanation from the parent/guardian must be presented to the class teacher. This may be in the form of a handwritten note, email or Skoolbag App.
